National Youth Dance Company

Nationwide Schools Workshop Programme

Nationwide Schools Programme 2023,
in partnership with Studio Wayne McGregor

The NYDC Schools Programme is designed to give young people an insight into the NYDC process. This year our workshops will be delivered in partnership with Studio Wayne McGregor and will be based on Novacene, the work created for NYDC by McGregor earlier in 2023.

We want to meet young people from all areas of the country, from all dance backgrounds and experiences. Our school workshops are designed for young people aged 14-18 and will give participants an insight into life in the company through sharing company practices and repertoire from our productions.

“This was a wonderful afternoon full of movement that challenged our students and got them to move in ways out of their comfort zone. The energy that the workshop leaders gave was INCREDIBLE. We feel so lucky to have had an afternoon with you. Thank you so much!!!”

Our workshops are:

FREE! There are no hidden costs. We just want to share the NYDC Experience with as many people as possible.

– Created with young people at the heart. We are the country’s flagship youth dance organisation; our work is created for young people and performed by young people.

– Led by NYDC Alumni; young artists who have been through the company themselves and can share their experience and knowledge of being professional artists.

When are the workshops?

We will be delivering 60 workshops across the academic year from November 2023- July 2024.
Simply complete our booking form  below to register your interest and we will be in touch to organise a date that suits you.

You can choose either a 2 hour or 3 hour workshop.

Who are the workshops for?

We want to connect with a range of different schools, so whether you already offer dance within your curriculum (GSCE, BTEC, A Level) or have a dance club, we would love to work with you. Please note- priority will be given to schools in areas where we have lower recruitment numbers or levelling up areas.

NYDC company members come from a range of different dance backgrounds, experiences and styles. We welcome disabled and non disabled dancers. Our school workshops are no different and we are committed to ensuring that everyone’s access requirements are met so please give us as much information as you can on your form.

“It was an extremely enjoyable experience and I enjoyed the creative element and non judgemental atmosphere. I love how empowered this workshop made me feel!”

Roselynn started dancing in her bedroom as a self taught dancer. She auditioned for the Lowry CAT scheme in 2022 and is in her second year of training. She has experience in Contemporary, Commercial, and a bit of Kathak but would love to dance every style if she could.
